Capna Systems – 2019 In Review

2019 was a big year, but our team at Capna Systems is thrilled to report that we knocked it out of the park! We expanded, innovated, and connected with our customer base while upping our R&D game to keep up with the changing industry. That being said, let’s review our year here at Capna Systems and fill you in on all the exciting news.

We Discontinued The Ethos-4

Here at Capna Systems, we’re always pushing ourselves to develop the most cutting-edge tech for the cannabis extraction industry. We know that producers need to have the right tools to get the job done, so we never rest on our laurels and rely on old achievements. We’re always pushing onwards and upwards!

It is within this spirit of innovation that we inform you of the fact that we discontinued the Ethos-4. This was previously our flagship entry-level extraction system, but we’re now excited to offer our clientele the Ethos-6. To learn more, be sure you check out our blog.

Introducing The Fully Automated Ethos-X

Although we always design our tech for use by an entry-level operator, we’ve learned that some producers are looking for greater automation. This keeps your costs down and your productivity up while streamlining the overall extraction process.

This makes absolute sense, as you always want any edge you can get over the competition. Consequently, we also offer an Ethos-X system. This is a larger version of the Ethos-6. The Ethos-X has a throughput capacity of 20 lbs/hour versus the throughput capacity of the Ethos-6 at 14 lbs/hour.

It’s important to remember that Capna Systems technology can be used to efficiently and effectively produce any number of cannabis or hemp products, including:

  • Crude oil
  • Crumble
  • Distillate
  • Edible
  • Live Resin
  • Shatter
  • Sugar wax

Our gear is flexible enough to allow producers to decide just what kind of products they’re looking to manufacture. Ultimately, Capna Systems is just trying to provide you with the best tools you need to get your hemp or cannabis extraction facility up and running!

Our Modular Systems

One of the defining characteristics of Capna Systems is the fact that we offer end-to-end turnkey solutions for cannabis or hemp extraction. This includes every step of the manufacturing process, from biomass to isolate. So what does this mean, exactly? We can build you a fully operational lab that is unparalleled in efficiency, efficacy, and convenience.

Let’s take a moment to consider the modularity and scalability of two key pieces of equipment: the ATLES (Automated Large Ethanol System) and the ARES (Alcohol Recovery Evaporator System). The former is an extraction system while the latter handles solvent recovery. They each have multiple modules that have been developed in tandem with each other to maximize your output and throughput.

Our New Website

In keeping with the spirit of our near-constant development and innovation, our team decided to give our website a little facelift back in June. We’ve included a wealth of new information for potential customers, making it easy for cannabis and hemp producers to learn about our equipment and quickly build up their production capabilities.

We’ve also developed a return on investment (ROI) calculator. This can help producers calculate operating costs, thereby helping you build a business that can thrive in this current market. Please note that this is a more limited version of our ROI calculator – if you’d like to use this tool with total functionality, be sure to contact us right away!

Furthermore, developing a new website has helped us strengthen our brand, emphasizing our core values. Everything we do circles back to these three concepts: scalability, efficiency, and automation.

Capna Offers Custom Solutions

Over the years, we’ve learned that cannabis or hemp producers can have needs that are specific to their particular business model. In other words, no two labs are the same, and our team at Capna Systems is prepared to help you build an end-to-end solution. That being said, these systems are tailor-made to meet your specific needs.

Plus, we don’t just deliver the equipment and then leave you to fend for yourself. Our service team will help you assemble your setup so you can get up and running in as little time as possible. This includes troubleshooting any problems that may arise!

In order to make this happen, we’ve continued to develop our Customized Solutions system. Although it’s based on the ATLES platform, it’s easy to customize and modify. Additionally, its total modular scalability allows for a base production rate that ranges from 100 lbs/hour to 2000+ lbs/hour. This means that clients who have high volume needs can always turn to us to help them achieve their production/extraction goals.

We’re At A New Location!

Back in May of 2019, the whole Capna Systems team relocated. We now have our entire operation, including assembling and building all of our cutting-edge equipment, located at:

Capna Systems

15148 Bledsoe St.

Sylmar, CA 91342

As always, our knowledgeable and friendly representatives are standing by to give anyone who’s interested in a live demo or tour of the facility. If interested, just be sure you reach out to us and set up an appointment to come see our headquarters!

Furthermore, we take safety very seriously. Not only is our extraction equipment safe to operate and use, but it’s safe to assemble and put together for our production team. That being said, we’re proud to report that we’ve had a full year, 365 days, with zero incidents or injuries!

Getting The Word Out – Speaking At Conferences

We work hard on our gear. As a result, we’re eager to share our developments with the outside world and the wider cannabis industry. As a result, Gene Galyuk, the Chief Technical Officer (CTO) at Capna Systems, has made the rounds over the past year and spoken at four different conferences:

  1. CannaFarm Con – August 2nd, 2019. Title: I’ve Got Your Number: Lab Testing.
  2. NCIA San Jose – June 15 – 17, 2019. Check out this link!
  3. NCIA webinar – This is part of an ongoing series of webinars held annually.
  4. CBD Expo WEST – December 5th, 2019. Title: Cannabinoid Extraction becomes Contemplation. Separation. Satisfaction. Consumption.

As you can see, Gene has been out there, spreading the good word! There’s no doubt he’ll be doing the same throughout 2020, so be sure to check in with us and try to catch one of his speaking engagements.

Look Out For These Interviews!

We all know the cannabis industry is booming right now, so Capna Systems has been out there, doing press and letting the public know about our proprietary form of supercooled ethanol extraction. Be sure you check these out:

  1. Interview with The American Dream TV
  2. Interview with High Times (coming out in 2020).

The American Dream TV interview includes a walkthrough through our facility, giving our potential customers a pretty good idea of what we’re all about and showing them where all the hard work happens. We can’t thank them enough for their amazing coverage!

Additionally, we’re thrilled to have spoken with the inimitable High Times. In the cannabis world this is clearly a big deal so be sure you keep a lookout!

We Hit Up Trade Shows All Year Long!

In addition to these conferences and interviews, we also spent a good chunk of 2019 at trade shows. These are important as it allows us to meet prospective clients and interface with other members of the cannabis industry. You can think of them like a giant think-tank where the free exchange of ideas is strong and there is an air of positivity and excitement.

  1. Concentration 2019 – May 30 – 31, 2019 in Pala, California.
  2. NCIA San Jose – June 15 – 17, 2019. Check out this link! We also successfully partnered with Huber USA and shared a booth with them!
  3. MJBizCon New Orleans – June 12 – 14, 2019.
  4. MJBizCon Las Vegas – December 10 – 13, 2019.

MJBizCon Las Vegas was especially exciting for us. In fact, we held a giveaway worth $125,000 to one lucky winner! If you’d like to learn more, be sure to check out our blog.

Successful Partnerships We Have Forged

We made short mention of the fact that we partnered with Huber USA at the NCIA San Jose trade show, but that’s not the only partnership we forged in 2019. Let’s take a closer look at two more:

Linked Equipment

We’ve worked closely with Linked Equipment to develop a turnkey modular solution for large-scale, industrial cannabis and hemp extraction. In order to do so, we’ve combined:

  1. Capna’s Automated Large Ethanol System (ATLES)
  2. Linked Equipment’s dynamic intermodular steel portable modules

This innovative combo can handle up to 3,000 lbs of biomass in a 10-hour shift while only taking up approximately 1,500 square feet!

In addition, to be convenient, efficient, and compact, these developments are incredibly easy to scale up. In fact, adding components from Capna® Extraction Platforms is really simple. This includes our premier systems (which themselves are modular and scalable):

  1. Alcohol Recovery Evaporator System (ARES)
  2. Automated Large Ethanol System (ATLES)

These innovations have been developed because of Capna’s design-for-scalability operational philosophy. In other words, we are entirely committed to providing manufacturers a flexible, modular setup, including plug-and-play Capna hardware that is highly scalable and can meet your production needs.

The Niva Labs

We also partnered up with a company named The Niva Labs on a challenging analytical research project to help us support our “supercooled ethanol extraction” patent claims. However, it was very challenging to find an analytical partner that was willing to take on this project.

That being said, The Niva Labs welcomed us with open arms, a professional approach, and excellent communication. Josh and Kris’s team nailed every deadline and provided very clear, comprehensive information that allowed us to pursue several new patents.
